30/07/2014 - Hockenheimring 2014 NitrOlymPx Track Preparation Update

Dear Riders and Drivers,

Under the TGE personnel sharing arrangements that all TGE member tracks benefit from, members of the Santa Pod  track prep crew have been on site working alongside the Hockenheimring’s own track prep team since the day after the F1 race preparing the racing surface ready for the 2014 NitrOlymPx.

News   News   News   News

Being very much aware of the damage done to their racing surface in 2012 The Hockenheimring management have worked very closely with Mr Charley Whiting of the FIA to ensure that requirements of the F1 event this year were met, without damaging the racing surface of the drag strip.

Contrary to the ill-informed rumours being circulated , The Hockenheimring  would like to reassure teams that this year; no pressure jetting or wire brushing operations have been performed on the racing surface, the racing surface’s integrity has not been damaged in any way.

Additional TGE Santa Pod staff arrived on site today (28th July) to increase the numbers of track preparation specialists on site, they will remain preparing the track and of course maintaining it during the 2014 NitrOlymPx  As you can see work is well under way!
The TGE Hockenheimring / Santa Pod crew have at their disposal a highly impressive list of equipment and materials!

  • 1x Reverse action rotary rubber sled (which I am assured can put down more rubber faster than any other type of track sled & which is one of two in Europe the other is owned by TGE member FHRA the organisation  that promote and operate the FIA & FIM championship races at Alastaro Raceway Finland)
  • 4 x Standard Rubber Sleds
  • Over 300 brand new Drag Race slicks for track sledding plus a large number of pre sued slicks
  • 7000 litres of VHT track glue
  • 4000 litres of methanol
  • 60 buckets of gold dust
  • 3 X track glue spraying machines
  • 2 X Sweepers
  • 2 X Scrubbers
  • 3 X Tractors
  • Plus all the usual oil clean up materials

We look forward to seeing you all at the track and wish you all good luck and an enjoyable 2014 NitrOlymPx.
